Flock Internet Browser
Who said that Internet Explorer will never loose its place
as the top browser. It may have market share, but it sure is
not keeping up with functionality of some other browsers.
I just learned about Flock, and I am truly impressed. I
really want to thank Ed Dale and the 30 day Underachiever
Challenge for introducing me to this great browser.
First of all, from what I have heard, and from my time using
it (which is only a couple days so far - but I do use it hard)
Flock is a very stable browser. That is great, as I was
getting very annoyed with all the problems I was having with
IE.
Also flock uses less system resource than either IE or
Firefox. Now this is huge for me, as after about an hour of
surfing, working away at webpages, blogs, myspace, google and
whatever, I usually have a dozen pages open. Anyone who has
had a dozen pages open with IE knows that you are not very far
away from a crash. Well with Flock and its use of Tabs, this
is no problem.
I actually did a little test with Flock, IE and FireFox. I
opened each up and kept note of the system resources it was
using (in Task Manager). Then continued to open another page
in each, again checking the amount of resources used. At the
start IE used about 10% more than the other two. Flock was
slightly less than FF. By the time I had 6 pages open, IE was
using twice the resources that the other two were using.
But Flock has so many great features, low resource usage is
just gravy. Flock has automatic blogging function from News
Reader. It has its own News Reader in it. It has 'Click to
Block' from any web page. It has a "copy and paste to Blog"
function (with images). This function allows you to save
multiple snippets and put them all into one blog post And with
all these great ways to get content to your blog, it first
sends you to a great little editor that allows you to add
titles, your own comments, and do any kind of editing, even
html editing.
And to top it off - every time you publish it gets you to
add Tags for the social networking search engines to your post
- Awesome!!
With the help of Ed Dale, I have only scratched the surface of
what Flock can do. I will add more as I uncover more ways to
use Flock.
